Tejashwi Yadav Appointed As RJD's New National Working President

Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal on Sunday formally appointed Tejashwi Yadav as its Working President, marking a decisive moment in the party’s political journey. The announcement came during the RJD’s national executive meeting in Patna.

Taking to X on Sunday, the party shared pictures from the meeting with the caption, "Dawn of a New Era! Shri Tejashwi Yadav Ji has been appointed as the National Executive President of Rashtriya Janata Dal."

Did Lalu Yadav attend the meeting?

The RJD's national executive meeting was attended by both the former chief ministers of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife, Rabri Devi. 

During the inaugural session of the RJD’s national executive meeting, Lalu Yadav handed the appointment letter to his son Tejashwi Yadav in the presence of other senior leaders.

The proposal to make Tejashwi Yadav the working president was placed by senior leader Bhola Yadav on the instructions of Lalu Prasad Yadav.

On May 25, 2025, Lalu Prasad expelled his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for six years, citing “irresponsible behaviour” and violation of family values. After this he formed his own party called, Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD). 

And elder sister Rohini Acharya, after the Bihar Assembly Election, made public remarks about instability withing RJD and the family. She also targeted the former deputy chief minister over the party’s poor performance in the Bihar Assembly elections held last year.

After the news that Tejashwi Yadav has been appointed as the working president, Rohini took to X and said, "prince turned puppet."

Ahead of the national executive meeting also, Rohini took to X and said "those genuinely committed to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ideology and legacy had the right to question the leadership over the party’s current condition."

She also said that "Today, the real command of the party, known for fighting for the rights and entitlements of the people, lies in the hands of those infiltrators and conspirators."
